Well they've done it again! Baseball victoria are hopeless, and I will be ringing them tomorrow and go being them a mouthful because they've decided to reschedule tomorrow's game too later in the season....with less than 24 hours notice....because of a game at altona tomorrow that was fixtured in 6 months ago! We've got guys that have rostered themselves off night shifts that snow costing them a days pay! We were going to have a chrissy breakup that we spruiked to all our members and friends, and we'd organised a good spread for the gathered faithful! This is f##### bulls####! If your listening bv your welcome to fine me! You'll be hearing from me at 9.02 in the morning!

I think those at BV do a commendable job. There are quite a number of tasks they are required to be across. More than just knowing your beer is empty and when to turn the snags. Often the messenger is the last leg of a relay from the top down.
Getting on the phone first thing in the morning to give someone a spray is pointless. Like those that call themselves "spectators" but sit around, drink beer and throw abuse at umpires and players they are spectating.
I'm not sure if you have ever been told this, if you have then I doubt you listened (ever! To anything or one) and will more than likely dismiss this too, but here goes....
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

I think those at BV do a commendable job. Sure. But this time I think Wyatt is right.

I would think it only fair wyatt33 that BV/VBSL give your paid up members and club financial recompense for such tardy work. If it has cost players a days pay have it documented. If players had re-scheduled shifts have it documented. If it has cost the club because of the Chrissy break-up being affected, keep receipts.
Present all of this to the governing body and request a written apology and fiscal restitution as required. Phone call's are easy for them to brush off but hard copy correspondence must be addressed by them.
I know it's tough for BV/VBSL but this is simple negligence.

I have only seen your post krystalclear after my last comments.
No-one is suggesting we shoot the messenger but would you argue that admin's, that are the paid decision makers, should not be immune from "a spray" nor held accountable for actions that affect many people and their families at this time of year?
I agree with you about the commendability bit this season but surely an oversight such as this, if that's what it is, must bring into question the priority's of an under staffed and resourced back room operation.
I think you will find that people who are upset and want to 'spray' or vent are not the sit around abusive drunkards that you suggest but hard working volunteers of long standing with a passion for their teams, their clubs and the game.

I appreciate your lack of concern for the 'spectators' at mulgrave, but you've got this wrong. This decision could have been made 12 weeks ago....but they told us tonight! I stand by my spray! Is there a chance that you may be on the phone tomorrow when I call? I hope not for your sake, because if you do work for bv, then your in for a barreling. Otherwise relax and tell your sister/brother/uncle/life partner/next door neighbour to strap themselves in.

"I think those at BV do a commendable job. There are quite a number of tasks they are required to be across."
That is one hell of a comment that cannot go through to the keeper, krystal (even forgetting about your condescending scattergun put down).
No doubt BV staff try hard, and do solid, at times "commendable" work in some areas. They are employees. That is why they are there. They are PAID to do "commendable" work across a number of different tasks.
The sport cannot prosper - or even survive - without its paid administrators.
However, I would argue that doing "commendable" work in some areas - sometimes - is just not enough. Of course no-one is perfect, but when staff in any organisation mess up or are shown to be deficient in some way, the stakeholders have every right to express their displeasure within reasonable verbal bounds.
While I have no knowledge of the circumstances involved here, I reckon I can reasonably argue that our struggling baseball administration in this country will never get any better until the people who own the sport insist on being treated with thoughtfulness and respect.
It all starts with accountability. Of Board members and paid staff. When stuff-ups are made, or inadequacies are identified, let us not blame the messengers – who in some cases will be club people who have already demonstrated great commitment and passion for improvement of the sport.
When mistakes are made, just apologise, learn and move on in trying to get better. Even if there is just a perception of a mistake being made (which may well be the case here, I do not know), the organisation should be able to deal with that. Communications 101.
There is no us and them. We are all in this together. At least we should be.

There are a couple of things that have been missed in this that BV need to be held accountable for. The original scheduling had the games for Thursday when all other Div 3 games are on a Wednesday. It's a pretty safe bet to say this was done for the all star game. On the 5th of November it was changed to today. The email says it's being changed to bring it into line with all other mid week games for div 3. So someone stuffed up pretty bad. I know Chelsea also had plans for tonite as they discussed them after the game Sunday.
Secondly With the game now moved to the 27th Jan it means div 3 teams play 5 games in 14 days. That's a fair ask for a div 1 club with depth, a Div 3 club with a bunch of fat 40 year olds in in for a world of hurt.
And for the record, there is no apology in yesterdays email, it simply states the change of date and asks that it be passed on to teams. Lets hope everyone got it.

Its mis management like this that will keep this sport as the 6th/7th or 8th string sport in this country.
Poorly managed all round BV.
Poor.

I think right now we'd take 6, 7 or 8th! We're probably fighting with curling and European handball at the minute, but they get better funding because they're Olympic sports....

Yep. After receiving an email saying that midweek games where moved fr wednesday to thursady we informed everyone involved. Then we got another email saying that they have been rescheduled till 27th January. Nice to see we get plenty of notice for the changes.

In a way I am glad I am not involved anymore, but fooey, you are over estimating the 6th, 7th or 8th. Try number 24 in the pecking order. It just explains and shows all the reasons why Baseball in Victoria is stuffed. No Baseball knowledge equals inadequate administration. The people sitting in the glass house have no knowledge of how to operate at club level, so don't expect too much when it comes to reasoning.
