Congrats to all teams that have made it though to their respective Women's Grand Finals for the 2012/12 season.
Super Saturday will be a massive day down at Springy with all three teams playing off for the flag - a huge testiment to the hard work put in at the club throughout the season.
Div 3 - Waverley B v Springvale C @ 10am Div 2 - Footscray A v Springvale B @ 1pm Div 1 - Springvale A v Doncaster A @ 4pm
Good luck to all teams and let's hope we get some nice weather on the day!!

So no neutral venues for women's grand finals?
Springvale get the advantage of playing at their home ground, In their own dugouts for all grades.
I would like to see that get over the line in the men's league.

i think you will find that Springvale were given the Super Saturday Womens Grand Final a couple of months ago...
Its actually the testiment to the womens program at Springvale that they were able to achieve this result.
As a matter of Fact try all the previous years it had been held at Malvern, if you really want to complain

i think you will find that Springvale were given the Super Saturday Womens Grand Final a couple of months ago... Springvale put their hand up a year ago, as I recall, to take over from Malvern (which is only fair, given that Malvern had run Super Saturday for multiple years in a row). I'm sure that if Doncaster or Port or Waverley ask for it, then they would be given a turn.

Mens League you say , running bunt..how about the Div 2 Masters grand finalists refusing to go to Altona, and one team giving up a potential premiership by offering up a forfeit! Wouldn't find a Women's team trying that on.

Hey running bunt, Buddha and MF are correct. Malvern were given the Grand Finals the past 3 years, and as President of Springy, i put in a letter last season asking if we could have a go at hosting the day. We will hopefully sell a few drinks and some hot dogs which will help our club a lot.
The club has been planning for this day for months now, and there will be egg and bacon sandwiches from 8am, a coffee van for most of the day, drinks tents behind home plate, plenty of cold drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), a bbq running after our egg and bacons, some commentary for the Division One game, and our grounds crew have been preparing the fields all week.
It will be a huge day, and one that we hope showcases women's baseball. I hope that a heap of people come down and see some great games of baseball. Our club has been a big supporter of women's baseball for a long time now, so i hope we can promote the game in the right way and show everyone who turns up to the club our great field along with some fine women's baseball players.

The Preston Baseball Club had put a proposal togther to host super Saturday 2 season ago and were advised not to bother, as it has been allocated for the next 3-4 years.
Our proposal was based on the triple header with a night grand final, along with a junior girls clinic held prior to the first game, to promote the game of baseball & womens sports through the local community and La Trobe Uni ....

coachstu, i did hear sometime ago about that proposal, and it sounded fantastic.
But i must say, i feel it is very, very important to reward clubs that have women's programs with the ability to host this great day. Our club has supported Malvern over the past 3 years, and i have no doubt they have had a successful day on all three occasions.
I would like to think that women's clubs could be rewarded every now and then with the ability to host super saturday and take in some much needed extra money through the canteen.

I reckon that the super Saturday concept for Women's Baseball Grand Finals across several divisions is a fantastic one and I also agree that a club and its personnel that have contributed and persisted with their support of the betterment of women's baseball have earned the right to host this event. I'd love to see a similar concept taken up by the Men's League, although I have my doubts that any of the finalist playing clubs could reach a consensus as to where that might be held. Imagine a Super Saturday at Laverton. Imagine, Game 1. Men's Div.2 G.F., imagine Women's Div.2 G.F., imagine Women's Div.1 G.F., imagine Men's Div.1 G.F. to cap it off. Imagine all the people, it's easy if you try. Congrat's 'wearnie52'.

To give some of you a heads up, if there is no parking left at the ground, there will be plenty of parking at the Dingley Netball Centre, Lot 1/ Rowan Road, Dingley. This is off westall road, will be available from 12.30 once the netball is complete.

I know not a lot of people read the women's threads, however, i really wanted to get on here and make sure i said thank you to all involved with the Springvale Baseball Club. Saturday (apart from the rain) was a fantastic day, with so many of our men's and juniors volunteering to ensure the day ran smoothly. The ground was in immaculate condition, the grounds crew worked in the rain for most of the day, and there were many people cooking sausages, selling drinks, and keeping things running well.
I am so proud of the club and all it presented to the baseball community last weekend. We will go again this Saturday as we host the Women's Division One Grand Final at 2pm. Win or lose this week, a really successful year for our women's program - and our club as a whole. Good luck to all men and women playing Grand Finals this weekend.
