Let's hope the rain stays away from Geelong on Sunday. Hate to make two trips in two seasons for two wash outs.

Wolves Vs Newport in the local Derby on Saturday. top of the table clash should be a ripper as we hit the half way bump in div 2.
its always 10 degrees cooler at Williamstown(much to the dismay of many a jacket-less fan) so come escape the heat and watch some baseball.
Good-luck to everyone over the weekend!

Huge day of baseball games tomorrow. Top 4 playing each other. Blackburn hosting ladder leader Geelong with 3rd placed Essendon visiting the Farm to try and not let the Rustlers swap places.

Berwick got up over Werribee 9-0. Chilly going 9 scattering 5 hits. Cam Ross going 4 from 4. P.S I'm guessing that this counts as media fines boys.

Another extraordinary round of games in Division One today. Blackburn beat Geelong 2-1 in eleven (with Adam Bright collecting a mass of strikeouts). Sandy blanked Upwey 13-0, Doncaster beat Melbourne 10-3, Preston recovered from a slow start to down Malvern 13-6, Sunshine got up 4-3 over Waverley and Essendon strengthened its hold on third with an 8-6 result over Cheltenham. www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/

What has happened to the Melbourne boys?! Don't think they've lost much to the Aces, they've just gone downhill and fast!

... having a conversation in sunny sleepy hollow yesterday morning watching a nufty umpire even things up and eventually win the game... oldmanriver, your constant attacks and invective are wearing thin... a young man from our club gives his time freely to ensure a game your son is playing in has an umpire, and you use a public forum to anonymously call him names and accuse him of cheating? Do me a favour... when you're in Geelong in two weeks, be sure to introduce yourself to me... I'd love to take you to the young man in question so you can hurl your abuse and level your accusations face to face, like men once did. And hurling it from behind the fence on Sunday morning is no more manly than what you've done here on the forum. While you're at it, you can explain your theories to my family about how I used my position on the SLC to move this week's games to Sunday for my own benefit, even though it now means I miss my daughter's netball game and Xmas breakup (for whom I'm coach) and my wife's Xmas party. I'll also introduce you to a hundred or so other parents who would love to hear you spout the burdens of having to travel to Geelong twice in three weeks. Like I said, I'll be there and would be more than happy to put a face to these accusations and attacks... I'll be waiting for the introduction... or will you ignore this like the last time I asked for you to back up what you accused me of?

Eagle, It is very obvious that you must live in a world of misconceptions. No abuse was hurled anywhere. I have no explanation as to why your game is moved to a Sunday as I was under the impression that no games were to procede after 11 am due to the almighty All Star game. That one will have to be sourced from David Zucchet. I do sympathise about you having to miss your daughters game and party and wifes party. You could forgo the baseball for family. As for the burdens of travel, that is the choice people make to play in the competition, or as you have previously stated, there are regional competitions in the winter. I don't really remembering complaining about travel but just making a statement. I doubt if I have accused you of anything but did ask how Geelong managed to basically play most of their homes games on a Saturday. And if I get down to Geelong Saturday week I will be more than happy to meet you and whoever else you wish to introduce me to.

I didn't want to say anything, but I don't need to hear how far someone travels to play baseball every weekend, because you've stated it PLENTY of times before. We get it! You rack the miles up! Don't keep telling us, because after a couple of times, it starts to sound like whinging. I'm just saying......

And if I get down to Geelong Saturday week I will be more than happy to meet you and whoever else you wish to introduce me to. Misconceptions my left foot OMR... either you write words and sentences you do not fully comprehend (in which case, I beg you to stop), or you're backing away so fast your forgetting what you've posted on this forum... let me recap... ... having a conversation in sunny sleepy hollow yesterday morning watching a nufty umpire even things up and eventually win the game... Since the word 'nufty' is slang, I've had to rely on the Urban Dictionary... "Loser" or "A completely useless c& t" who is "hopeless at life." Perhaps you confused 'nufty' with the less offensive term 'nuffy' which was derived from the slang term 'niff nuff'? The Urban Dictionary defines a nuffy as a 'retarded person'. I'll leave it to you to decide which of these you intended the use to describe the umpire who volunteered his time to make sure your son's game had an umpire last Sunday morning, but any way you want to cut it, that's abuse. And not the first time you've sunk to calling people names... All I can say is, an idiot has done this draw... ... not to mention general references to groups being "stupid" or a "bunch of a#$eholes", or that people with different opinions to you are "neandathols" (sic) with "their heads in the sand." It seems a default option for you to stoop to personal invective rather than reasoned and measured defense of your ideas. My reference to games on Sunday was an error... it should have read Saturday... apologies for any confusion, but this is beside the point. You doubt you accused me of anything??? Well, let me remind you... I notice eagle that Geelong play all most their home games on a saturday, not a real problem for Geelong to play on a saturday, but it seems to me that the SLC seems to make a suit yourself decision and bugger the rest of the clubs. I posted not long after this for you to clarify what you meant, which you ignored, but it was pretty clear that you think my position on the SLC was used to create a decision to benefit my club... and it seems I'm not the only one to think so... even the moderators of this site edited your post to remove the section I've quoted here and admonished you for your comment... I am starting to come to the opinion that the SLC is at a times a toothless tiger and does bugger all, fancy being told by umpires what they demand and want and getting it. (** Admin Edit**) Play the ball, not the man Yeah, you accused me of using my role on the SLC to feather my own nest, then you avoided any effort to clarify what you meant, and now your playing ignorant, rather than either standing by your words or apologising for them. As it stands now, your apologies would be worthless anyway... you've chosen your way of addressing this, so be it. As for your sympathies, stick 'em in you satchel... I don't need them from you, nor do my family... we make sacrifices, like every other person involved in sport. The point I was making was that the decision to move the games impacted everyone, including those like me, who were a part of the decision-making process. For you to personally call me out showed a complete lack of respect for the difficulties we confronted in making the decision and for the sacrifices we make to be part of the decision-making process for what we think is right. You can disagree with our decision and I can only defend the process and reasoning we used, but stop making claims on this forum that those working within our leage are not operating in what we see is the best interest of a sport we all love at least the equal of you... you're wrong. "As for the burdens of travel," you say... like I understand the burdens of poverty because I only have one television... let's recap again... Had a great day yesterday, 140k's to Geelong, 70 odd k's to Essendon, 70 odd k's back home just another day at the baseball. Not really happy about the two Geelong trips in three weeks. ...the draw is out, everyone is playing, travel is good, baseball is good and get to sit in the passenger seat to Geelong on the 9th. Unfortunately, Larry, some people(How dare they) actually put the family first. Especially if you have daughters. (Sarcasm noted... unless you'd make another denial - aueagle30) Then comes the biggy, travel, sorry son, time to look at other interests or start relying on other people to cart the boy/girl around. Ripping draw for the 18's. Doncaster x 2, Essendon, Geelong, Werribee, Upwey and Waverley all away and four home games. At least the lad will get the rest of his learner driving hours up by the end of the season. (Again, sarcasm noted - aueagle30)Travel in the BV is the norm. You are lucky you only have three visa travels. Last year We travelled to Geelong, Essendon,Newport and Werribee... Personally I couldn't give a stuff about travelling, that just goes hand in hand with the competition... ... HUH??? For someone who doesn't give a stuff about it, you certainly make a lot of "statements" about it. And it would appear I'm not the only one who has taken the inference of your 'statements' as complaint. For someone with such a breadth of opinion, you seem seriously lacking in any depth of conviction. I take no exception to you using this forum to be opinionated or to disagree with decisions and policies in our sport and our league... in fact, I welcome all those here with strong opinions... but I do take exception to the personal comments and the name-calling. I think our baseball family deserves better. (For those following along, sorry for the length)

No need to apologise for the length of your post auseagle, your posts generally make for interesting reading. OMR - as a parent who has travelled up the highway for junior games then progressed to junior games and senior games in the one day I say to you look on the positive side. Through junior baseball we met some wonderful dedicated people many who are our friends today and we got to watch our son and daughter enjoying their sport and developing as people and players. As for your critisism of the umpire - shame on you. As has been said in many other posts in this forum - without umpires there is no game. Again look on the positive side and be thankful that a player was prepared to help out his club so that a junior game could be held.

gt40, thank you... to be clear, the umpire in question is not even a player... A Canadian who recently moved to Geelong to study at Deakin University, has both playing and umpiring experience, and approached the club volunteering to umpire as many games as we needed from him.
He's committed to a junior game every week and 3rd's/4th's games, where needed.
A really pleasant guy, with an obvious passion for involvement in our sport... absolutely, utterly, priceless in our 'world' of local baseball to find someone like this.
Some insight why demeaning commentary of this person resulted in such a strong response.

While we are on volunteers i just want to raise something from our little league game last sunday. Ventured out to Essendon with the boys ready to play on the synthetic, only to be crushed when realized they had been bumped to another field. had to explain to them " boys, U12's dont get right of way when the older age groups are at home". Terrific to see the Gells running one of the teams out there with Rob and Bronwyn coaching and Sharon scoring. Terrific to see one of our more recently decorated women's players (national representative) putting something back in to her club of origin. Rob stepped in to take on the umpiring role when the rostered umpire didnt show.

Hey KC, I don't know of anyone who has said vehicle but I'm pretty sure that not many ball players would have associated the two or even knew what a GT40 is or that it only stood 40 inches tall. ;-)
