New season, new hope! Met our new import Mike last night. A nice guy, from Toronto. Looking forward to watching the boys have there first hitout at Newport. A good lineup on paper, wait and see how my rebels go!

Should be a ripper season of baseball, I will just enjoy crossing of the grounds that the lad and myself won't have to visit next season in the juniors. Look forward to just sitting back and catching up with old friends around the traps.

Div' 1 Sunshine v. Cheltenham, 1st's 7-2 Chelt, 2nd's 10-0 Chelt, 3rd's 7-1 Chelt, 4th's 14-13 Chelt. In a pre-game misshap during the 1st's warm up the Eagles starting pitcher was hit in the head by an errant ball and could not take the mound (I hope he's o.k.) Rustler "Chedda" Gribbin went to hospital for scans and x-rays after pulling up 1/2 way to 1st. after a big swing (I hope he's o.k.) and Matt Gourlay copped a ball in the mouth sliding into home plate (fortunately not losing any teeth). The Cheltenham 4th's plated 9 in the 9inth for the 1 run win. Summer....game on.

At Albert Park St Kilda up over Chelsea 4-2 in the ones and 10-0 in the twos. Both clubs imports looked good and sharp considering how long it has been since they both last played. Our new pitcher Ceriface went 6 and departed after 90+ pitches, Chelsea's Tuft went the distance and hit a laser shot jack over left field - looks like he will bring a lot to Chelsea this year. Saints were helped by a few unearned runs courtesy of a few defensive miscues that got them over the line in the end. Couple of ill-timed late withdrawals mean the 3's had to forfiet - which is a dead shame in the opening game considering how many players we have on our list. 4's up over Chlesea too.

Moorabbin beat my mariners 13 3 in the ones 12 1 inthe twos and 19 6 in the 3's. 1's were in it until the sixth when the wheels fell off in the field in the seventh. 2's gave up an 8 spot in the fourth and the 3's from all reports tried as best they could and in all three games we never threw in the towel. The pleasing part was we were in all three games until mid to late and we managed to field all three sides with a couple unavailable and four or five pending clearances which in itself is a good sign considering where we finished last year. Looking forward to venturing down to chelsea on sunday.

Can't seem to find the result for the Werribee v Bonbeach match. Nothing on Summer League site. Anyone know?

Cheers Wako, it was a tough first up game, it went down to the wire as preston lost their final out with guys still on base and only one run behind.

Not sure what the deal is with the Bonbeach v Werribee game scores. Anyway, Werribee got up 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th with some timely hitting.
Was a pretty close game with both teams probably not as sharp as they will be going forward. Plenty of scoring opportunities that were missed on both sides.
Both the starting pitchers threw very well.
I know at Bonbeach we'll take plenty of positives out of it even though it was a tough loss. A few younger guys stepped into the senior side and equipped themselves very well and Jay Willis played some great defense in his first game at the club.
We'll also get Luke Howell and Luke Hornstra back for this weeks game which will make a huge difference to the line up.
I think the scores for the 2's was 14-0 Werribee's way 3rds i think we pinched it by a run in the last and our 4ths proved too strong starting the season with a 44-0 win.
Feel free to correct me if i got any of those scores wrong.
