dazza33, Correct. The main field is a good field to play the Grand Final on. Good surface and good viewing areas. Bloody shame about the lack of parking for a big crowd. This lack of parking will see plenty stay away. If it's not the lack of parking it will be the memory of the undercooked hamburgers last year. My a*** is just getting over them !!!!

Yeah I do understand where you are coming from big plums with the car park but if you just drive 1 minute around the corner you can park in the netball car park which is like a minute walk to the ground. This year at dingley it is going to be even bigger with a grand stand going up from one of our sponsors on the first base line. It will be a fantastic weekend and I hope to see you all there.

Yep just park around the back and walk through the little bushy part........The good news for those considering parking is that the majority of the Pakenham players/supporters are all coming on one bus!

Maybe we could all catch a lift with the GLW and be dropped off. If she really is the GLW she may even pick up later on.(Don't bank on it) Should be a good day Sunday regardless of what the weather throws up. Just hope Dingley gets Crownies this week.

Don't know about the Crownies OMR, but we do have Jim Beam Mid Strength (from the Ace's) that for some reason we just can't seem to get through.

Always tempting fate getting a team bus to a grand final! Any one got any good outcomes from that? Usually means flirting with Karma!

Hello People, time for the last Kiss of Death for Season 2012. First of all, congratulations to all the teams competing this weekend. Let's start with Saturdays games. B1 Pakenham v Dandenong This will be one the books. The Dim Sim Munching lead Angels against the Proficient Pakenham Pumas. The outcome is really going to come down to who is going to have enough firepower on the hill. The guile of the old campaigner Rick Wheeler or the exubruence of a young Scotty Phillips. The batting is fairly even, the fielding is fairly even. This scribe is having a tough time deciding who the winner will be, but on a toss of a coin i feel the Angels will get up in an upset just on the fact that Dandenong have kept playing and it may take the Pumas a few innings to get back into the swing of the game. This will be close with only 1 or 2 runs init all the way.
B2. Oakleigh v Boneo This game is well and truly decided on the mound before a pitch is thrown. Well done to Boneo getting over Carrum Downs last week, but Team Korea with Terry Jeon on the hill should sneak over the line. The Oakleigh team will have to bat to back up Terry for them to have any chance of posting a winning score. Boneo will hang in there but gut feeling says Boneo played their GF last week and Oakleigh should take the pennant. B3 Berwick v Boneo Should be an interesting game, Wearnie, Hoges and Hughesy will be hoping to go through the season undefeated. Boneo have been close a couple of times. Sinkers will have to through out of his skin again to have any chance of confusing the Berwick hitters with a mixture of goo and super goo. I just feel that Berwick having that extra incentive of going through the season undefeated will get them over the line in a tough and closely fought contest.
Sunday A1 Dingley v Cheltenham. This is going to be a close and tough game. Cheltenham last week broke out of a mini batting slump and should continue the hitting which I feel will be the difference in this game. Dingley on the other hand need everything going for them to take this seasons flag. Rubber arm Prior will need to be spot on. I just feel that Cheltemham will have a lot more firepower to call on down the stretch with Blackley, Blackmore and Cunningham who can go to the hill in relief to back up young Yoshi who has done a sterling job in starting the last two finals. Grant and the boys will have to come out hitting from the start as this game will not be one by a one innings effort but will require a full nine inninmgs effort. In short, I feel the Rustlers will salute at the end og the game and take out a close fought contest. A2. Dingley v Cheltenham. Cheltenham have played out of their skins the last two weeks and will be hoping to continue the trend, but I feel that Dingley with more seasoned campaigners will prevail and get Dingley over the line. A3. Cheltenham v Berwick Cheltenham will hope that the weeks rest will have restored the old bones and hope that Berwick are hurting a bit. Berwick will be tough and I feel that unless Cheltenham can reproduce the form they showed in the 2nd semi, Berwick should get up in the GF. A toss of the coin and Cheltenham to win. A4 Cheltenham v Dandenong. Dandenong returned to the winners list with the Great Waldo Pepper keeping the pine warm all game. Cheltenham suprised all and sundry with their 12 -1 result in the 2nd semi and will have to be well and truly on their game to repeat the result. This game in no forgone conclusion and will produce an interesting tussle. I think and it is purely thinking that Dandenong should raise the flag.
Hope everybody plays well and gets well supported by the DBA patrons. Get down to Dingley this weekend and see some of the best Provincial Baseball in Victoria. Don't forget to donate to the Brooke Kennedy fund when the tins a rattled.
Good luck to all competitors and Umpires. May your eyes be steady and your nerve steely. Talk to you later.

15th September 2012
Senior Mens Finals
In three very high quality games at Dingley today, 3 B Grade teams were declared Champions
In the first match of the day, Oakleigh (Team Korea) took on the Boneo Braves to decide the winner of the B2 Competition. Results through the year saw this would be a close contest but it was one blow out inning that saw the Korean players from Oakleigh take the lead and ultimately crowned Champions on B2 with the final score being 10 -3
Out on the back diamond starting at 1pm, saw the undefeated Berwick (Hanger Boys) Dodgers take on Boneo Braves to decide the result. The Hanger Boys had gone through the season undefeated, but Sinkers had tied them up previously, so this could turn out to be a great game. In a see sawing battle with both Teams taking the lead, it wasnt until the last couple of innings in front of a Big crowd, saw the Hanger Boys pull away and tear the championship away from Boneo. Final score saw the Hanger Boys remain undefeated for the season 12 - 8
On the Main Diamond at 2:15 saw the Pakky Puma's and Dandy Angels clash heads (and Facebook Status as well) in the battle to declare the Champions of the B1 competition for 2012. Interestingly there were a few smaller battles that would see who would reign supreme. Jarrod Hough (Angels) V Travis Hough (Older Brother and Puma Coach) and little sister Jade Hough (Younger Sister and Puma Catcher). Beechy (Angels ) V Simmo ( Pumas). and who from Pakky would get the CLAP CLAP CLAP
The game was tight with some excellent plays on both teams, and it wasnt until the 8th inning that saw a "7" spot put down, to take the pumas from being one run down to 6 in front and only needing 3 outs to take the win and the flag. Pakky duely got those three outs and where declared the 2012 B1 Champions. Welcome to A Grade Pakky !.
Wokka and his boys from Dandy were definitely not disgraced and should kept there heads held high.
Sunday will see the following games at Dingley. Come on down and get a view from the Grand Stand.
First game is A4 at 10:30am . Chelt V Dandy on Top Diamond
Second game is A2 at 10:30am . Dingley V Chelt on Main Diamond
Third game is A3 at 1pm . Chelt V Berwick on the Top Diamond
The Championship game is Dingley V Cheltenham at 2pm

Cheltenham big A1 winners 10-1 over Dingley. The Dingoes held their nerve in the A2s, winning in either 12 or 13 with a 5-4. Jake Sinclair throwing 7+ scoreless for the W. Cheltenham won in extras in the A3 over Berwick, while Dandenong got their pennant in the A4s, winning about 11-5ish over Cheltenham.
Well done to all involved in the weekend. Dingley ran the games very professionally and well done to the DBA exec who ran the comp for the season.

Watching all four games yesterday was fantastic along with the three games on Saturday, the only disappointing aspect to come out of approx: 17 hours of baseball was the spray Earl Byrne gave to young Leslie who must stand only two feet six inches on his tippy toes for trying to lay down a bunt. The only child out of that confrotation was the elder statesman for 1. having a crack at a 14 year old kid and 2. continuing on with it. End result was a beauty, kid one base hit, Elder Statesman egg on face. That was the only sour part of the game in what was otherwise a game played with spirit and obviously fun being the high priority. The rest of the afternoon was spent in the sun enjoying watching thye best provincial baseball in Victoria.

OMR I will say the same to you that Earl said to the kid. Are you for effing real? I think any pitcher would have a crack at someone squaring to bunt when 11 runs down.

It is regardless of the situation, Someone who is apparently held in esteem should have known better than to try and intimidate a kid. If you reckon that's ok, then you to need to have a good hard look at yourself. Besides, Chelt was only 10 runs down at that stage and I can't see anywhere in the rule book that says you can't bunt at that stage of the game. Perhaps Earl was just getting frustrated being finally hit for a few runs that ruined his shut out. And laddie I am effing real.

Well put OMR, lots of kids in that Chelt team, I'm looking forward to watching them improve over the next few seasons.
While I didn't get to watch the main game that was a cracker of a finish to the A2's, well done to both teams (but obviously particularly to Dingley who took the W)

Well done on saturday Puma, I was coerced by the pipe to tip them when really i wasn't sure Rick could go the distance. Congratulations on what your Club has achieved this year on and off the field and hope that you make a good fist of A grade next season. Not sure what happened at the presentation as I was busy watching the game up on the top diamond.

Nothing in the rule book your right. You got 3 outs to score 10 runs in a grand final and he tries to drop a bunt. You make it sound like he gave the kid a barrage. Said to him are you for real. Then headed back to the mound. The umpires didn't even bat an eyelid. If you think it is a good play to bunt 10 runs down, probably explains why you were watching not playing.

Coalmined. Being happily retired probably explains why I was watching and not being associated with an A grade Club would probably classify as another good reason. But leaning on the fence on the first base side I had a real good chance to hear what Earl said and it was a bit more than are you effing real. He was probably pissed off that he had to get of the mound as though it was a pure insult to him that a bunt should be put down. Not a bad play considering Pep was at first and some other oldtimer was at third and the catcher certainly wasn't moving in a hurry. It is baseball, expect the unexpected unless Earl now writes the script for every game. As for Pistol Pete, I don't think he would wanted to make a fuss. He had already commanded the last inning to be played. Besides coalmined, please explain to me how in your opinion 10 runs should be scored. As it was, the end result was kid 1 bully 0. But Dandy played well when it really counted and deserved the flag. And just to finish off coalmined, I never said it was a good play, but is was unexpected. Have a nice day.
