Lara has qualified for another Geelong Baseball Association Grand Final by getting past Saints 7-2 in the Preliminary. The Wildcats were well-held early on before Ben Hammer brought the boys to life with a solo bomb off Josh Lee, who did another great job for the haloes. A six-spot in the bottom of seven did the serious damage and the Wildcats will go on to meet reigning premier Guild in the big game next Saturday. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au

We started well scoring 4 in the first 3 innings, but Westgarth took the lead on the Drinky Slam that still hasn't landed and from there they never looked back. Could not be prouder of the boys, especially the younger players who showed they can match it with the best side. Future looks good for us.

Young Ringwood 2B (Chase Hodkinson I think) had a very good day out.

Re #1 gj, yep agree - the week prior he smacked one over C/F but later in the game Masa's stuff made him look very uncertain. He has fantastic bat head speed and if he gets it its gone thast for sure. Some talk of Ross having strained a hammy y/day ? Any truth in that ?

@ authentic
yes he did, running between first and second. he pulled it, came up short and chucked the helmet. hopefully it isn't serious enough to keep him out next week.

Ta mate - that is a shame for him (and the club) if he cant come up as he is a major presence in the line-up.
Here's and interesting question ..... where does Diamond Creek play next year IF they win the BRes Grade Final after finishing on top and after dropping down out of B grade last year ?

He did confirm injury on facebook. He will play - he may well be more dangerous on one leg. Older wiser heads know that when Drinky is in form - never throw him a fastball.

I can sort of understand where that type of comment came from, but I believe Ringwood ought to be congratulated, not ridiculed.
They had a team in finals in, arguably, the highest four divisions of the MWBL. A1, A2, B1 and B2.
If I was coaching them I would use whatever talent I had available to ensure the best outcome for the club. I think they did this well, despite the grumblings of some teams. Remember, if you take an ace from one team, it leaves another potentially exposed.
They may only still be in the running for an A2 premiership trophy this year, but in my books, they would have to be serious contenders for the most successful club in the league.
My sincerest congratulations to them and their management.

Got the defending champion Monty C Reserve team into the GF and the shuffle, like Adam situation it is legal but right? Sheep stations...

As said above, the Falcons were able to take out the BBA A grade premiership on Sunday with a 10-7 victory over the Strath Dodgers.
It was a free scoring game early with Falcons scoring 6 in the bottom of the first for a 6-0 lead before the Dodgers came back with 6 of their own in the top of the 2nd to tie it up, from there the pitching took over with the score only 4-1 from there. Relieving pitchers Sheldon Christie for Falcons and Scott Wise for the Dodgers took over to control both offences. That makes it 13 A grade premierships in a row for Falcons.
On the other side, the Dodgers have had a fantastic season, from just being able to field a team in round 1 to taking the GF series to the full 3 games and with their young talent coming through they will only continue to get better.
A great day was held with great numbers of support for both sides, with congratulations also to go to Scots and their groundskeeper Darren Henderson for preparing the ground and having it in superb condition for all 3 weeks.

Not sure D White gets the win. Game well and truely dusted before he entered game. 12-2 I think at the time. His first pitch did go for a home run I have heard.

Guild has gone back-to-back - with its third A Grade title in four years - after downing Lara 3-2 in a thrilling GBA Grand Final this afternoon. In other grades, Guild made it a double with its 8-4 result over Lara in A Reserve, Mounties thrashed Guild 14-3 in B Grade, Werribee Vets packed too many guns 9-2 over Saints in B Reserve, while Deakin smashed Bellarine Blue 14-4 in the C Grade Grand Final. Congratulations to all winning teams. Well done to all for generating an outstanding day of baseball in perfect conditions for the last day of the winter season. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au
