i didn't see any contact from the catcher TL? right up in his face but no contact. As for the coach, only contact was a light hand on the shoulder to insert himself between the player and the umpire and actually leans backwards at one point to avoid further contact. Different tribunal system in ABL as well so different regulations, precedents etc etc. If there were any suspensions handed out for that I would be very surprised. Pro ball and amatuer ball are very different in what you can/can't get away with (and so it should be). check at about 1:13 in Goblins vid ( TY BTW Goblin for sharing), catcher clearly brushes Umps right arm with his glove before departing... Was there any official report lodged from this KC ?

I stand corrected. Must admit I was looking for the contact much earlier in the altercation. Would still be surprised if there was any games missed.

Perth Manager was controlled, and handled the situation very well by blocking his catcher from any further escalation of the incident.
I haven't heard, but I doubt that anything further would come of the incidental contact, Texas (although ANY contact is a no-no, de San Miguel was at that point withdrawing from the exchange and posed no threat to plate umpire Greg Howard).
The surprising thing to me was that Australian catcher de San Miguel could be so undisciplined that he could not find a more discreet way to express his displeasure about a couple of calls than to bucket off to Howard on his way back to the plate - in full view and earshot of 1800 people.
Pretty dumb, really. What would he expect any self-respecting umpire to do?

If he set back up, and kept his eye on the pitcher, he could have said pretty much anything he wanted. Boggles the mind why he would just fly off the handle like that. Maybe his legs were sore and he wanted the rest of the night off?

Hey Goblin I'll check my footage and see what I come up with. I'm on a different angle to you and I think filmed more of the incident, certainly the aftermath I think. Be a couple days though.

My video doesn't show how it all started but definitely shows the catcher push the umpire with his gloved hand before he thinks better of it and heads to the Dugout. No doubt deliberately in my opinion.
At no stage does the coach touch the umpire.
I will attach the video to my next post for all to judge for them selfs.

Hey Moose. It is asking if you can send a friend request to view the video. Other than that, the first scene looks nice and clear!
