"Following a great take up of our Season Ticket Memberships such that our 'SOLD OUT' sign has been hung out more than 6 weeks in advance of the opening game of the season on 6 November. Tickets to individual games and series will be available soon".
Above quotation is from the Sydney Blue Sox official web page....great to see them getting some early results with their membership drive but now that we know that the Showgrounds will be our venue I'm urging all baseball supporters in our state to at least match the Sydneysiders. The Showgrounds venue will be very fan friendly with some 4000+ seats and not too many that aren't great viewing. I know the passion of Victorian baseball fans. I've been lucky enough to have felt that passion as a player, a manager and more recently as a coach. We all showed up last year, especially at LaTrobe when Deebs put out the call for support. That support, I'm sure, was in part responsible for the government coming on board to the extent that they have. What would be great is if we could blow every other team out of the water with our membership numbers. Then it begins.....more members, better facilities, attracting still more members, facility upgrades, MORE members......and so on it goes.
C'mon Aces fans, this is our chance to shine. Let's not let all of the great work and massive efforts that were put in by so many last season go to waste. I'm excited by what we are going to experience this season....for all of you that experienced it last time around in the ABL and can't wait for it to boot up again...get on board. Let's make our own momentum.
Let's take heed of the ads that have been appearing during the MLB games and BE THERE.
GO ACES

Maybe something for Aces management to look at - 10% discount for season ticket holders to buy one off tickets for friends?!
Or alternatively, give them 3 one-off tickets to 'bring-a-friend'.

Anyone know if there will be corporate hospitality at the show grounds? my work held their xmas party at the night races last year...might try and convince them to hold it at the baseball.

Great work dickie.....I knew you would jump on board I'm sure our front office will have something special in mind for our home opener. Our plan on the field is to open with a win, then get better each subsequent game GO ACES

I just took a look at our "fan forum" on the Aces website and it's encouraging to see people getting on board. Windsor Knox and our front office staff are getting very active in the lead up to the season. Although they will be busy beyond belief over the next few weeks I'm sure they will be welcoming of all the fan activity, keep it coming. We all need to keep "selling" this to all of our friends and associates. Baseball in Victoria is alive & kicking. Let's show all of Australia and those at MLB that we deserve the best they have to offer by supporting their initatives 100%. Get your clubs on board, encourage workmates, business associates, schoolmates. Everyone that gets out to the Showgrounds will be in for a great time. Last year Deebs preached the importance of supporting the Aces in our drive to the Claxton Shield Championship, especially at the LaTrobe venue, and you did. Now we need to redouble that drive and make the Showgrounds our own, one that other teams will dread coming to, respectfully!!

Hey Phil Why not include a free ticket for every registered (and financial) player in VIC, junior or senior, male or female, Summer or Winter?
This could work in two ways, they may be more likely to get out and support more games or they may bring another person if they already have a membership etc. That would allow for more exposure to non playing people.
What do you think?
By the way, when is Bobble head night? Aces Poker night? Nacho night? I'm definitely in for Nacho night!

Great forward thinking TJ....but unfortunately I can only pass it on to the front office. My suggestion would be for you, and all of our fans with constructive promotional ideas, to contact the office directly. My main job this year will be telling the hitters to turn left at 1st base!! See you on opening night......

See you on opening night...... Does this mean it is pancake night? ;D There are a number of ideas we could have for themed games etc. But yeah, maybe we should send these in to the office. Might be a good thread though.

Just a personal "Thanks" to trober, monster, wheezer, webber, dogman22 and all of you who have purchased memberships. Thanks Phil, look forward to watching you and the boys in action this season. I'm very much a baseball novice, but have come to really enjoy MLB over the past couple of years (a trip to Fenway last year to watch the mighty Red Sox certainly helped the cause) and am looking forward to furthering my knowledge of the game from the bleachers at the Showgrounds this season!!

The Melbourne Aces are coming to Waverley on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. There will be a stand set up in the main rooms where you can get information about the Aces & the new Australian Baseball League. You can also purchase season passes or get information on ticket pricing. Melbourne Aces players will also be at our ground & will be available to players and parents. There may even be some give aways for the kids.

Although I'm not 100% privy to the exact numbers, I did hear that we're already on the way to equalling Sydney's membership base and wouldn't it be great to lead the league in memberships sold prior to opening day? It has been a great response from baseball fans in Victoria and just goes to show that we do support our sporting teams. I once again urge everyone who hasn't picked up a membership to jump on board. The guys in the front office are working their butts off to make sure this all comes together as a quality product. We're not far away from announcing the roster which can, & most likely will be, an expanded number of players from which the 22 players for each series are selected. Expect to see most of the familiar faces from last season along with a few rookie additions and some imports to complete the roster. Keep the ball rolling......get as many on board as you possibly can....let's show all of the 5 other competing teams an overwhelming Melbourne "welcome" when they come to visit.

The wife and I are in as members Phil, and very proud to be a part of the Aces membership family, but please understand from a member/supporters viewpoint, to have little to no idea as to what's going on is frustrating and to a point quite disheartening. The venue was only announced recently, and tomorrow marks three weeks before the Aces first game vs the Adelaide Bite and we are none the wiser as to a roster. We just want to know what's going on and while I appreciate that all staff of both club and league are working their tails off, some information cannot be too hard to put out in regards a player or two having signed with the club. The Melbourne Rebels for example still have to finalise their Super 15 roster for the coming season, but have announced signings as they happened, keeping the club in the news and relevant. I have no doubt this approach will work for them. Surely someone has signed to play - just let us know who.

I have no doubt this approach will work for them. Surely someone has signed to play - just let us know who. Great to hear that you and your wife are on board stuart. Honestly, if I could give you names of contracted players I would do that in a heartbeat. All of the contracts are being handled centrally by the ABL so I don't know when they will be signed. Players we have spoken to, to my knowledge, subject to availability are Justin Huber, Brett Tamburrino, Adam & Travis Blackley, Matty Lawman, Donny Hendricks, Josh Hendricks, Justin Charles, Andrew Russell, Jimmy Beresford, Josh Davies, Nathan Aron, Russell Spear, Cable Hogben, Blake Cunningham, Shane Lindsay, Matt Blackmore, Grant Karlsen, Adam Bright, Ross Hipke, Scott Wearne, Tristen McDonald.....I believe that Tom Dicker & Andy Tierney will also be given consideration if available....there is a possibility of some guys from the Independent Leagues being on our roster along with 4 as yet unidentified import players. Hopefully Pete Moylan will have an involvement at some stage subject to his off season preparation. Several other players have been spoken to informally regarding their availability and their responses have been taken on board. I may have missed a few as I'm flying off the seat of my pants with these names........... Again, be assured that neither I nor anyone else are playing games regarding the naming of our roster, it just hasn't been finalised.......... Hope this gives you some satisfaction, it's the best I can do at the moment.

Hey, now we are getting somewhere!! Will be interesting how this affects the Summer League though. I would enjoy watching these guys run around, throw in an ex major league player or a prospect from somewhere and it looks exciting.

If that is the roster (or 80% of it) then that's going to be one enjoyable team to watch, and from your perspective Phil, an enjoyable one to coach!
Thank you for your response too - I doubt too many codes have someone so close to the coal face willing to put their time towards promoting the team somewhat on a forum such as this.
Glad to be a member - wouldn't miss this at all.
