It would be interesting to see some comments on the start of the South Australia Claxton Shield campaign.
Three zip over Queensland is a perfect start, playing-wise, and it certainly gives us Vics something to think about leading into this weekend's series.
An official attendance figure of 1610 was given for last Friday night's game. That's a fantastic result and must give great heart to SA baseball (or at least the new ABL club). With a person of Pat Kelly's stature at the helm, we should not be surprised at anything. How did attendances go on the Saturday? What was the atmosphere like at old Norwood?
And while names and branding of clubs will change in the next 12 months, is South Australia - for now - the "Bite" or the "Croweaters", or neither?

At last !!! a positive thread on the SA Baseball Discussions.
SA is a rejuvenated outfit this season. We are at full strength and are going in un changed this weekend in Geelong.
Imports to watch include Ryan Murphy (import) who can pitch and hit to all fields with power, Richard Bartlett (import) who is a sinker ball pitcher - gets alot of ground outs.
We have also recruited young Matthew Smith from Central Coast NSW who looks a player of the future. He is a Stefan Welch clone, ie tall and a quick bat. But a right handed hitter.
Another recruit is Wayne Ough from Qld and this guy is a super star....Can play any position but will only be used as a pitcher at this level...
Of course we still have Ben Wigmore who is simply one of the best hitters in the country and is a proven performer at this level for a number of years. has Tremendous opposite field power.
Hopefully we can keep winning as this will put more bums on seats at Norwood which is just fantastic. It is only 5 mins from the Adelaide CBD so accomodates everyone north, south, east and west.
I'm predicting we will get big crowds by the end of the campaign as the word is spreading.
As far as I know we are simply called SA, however I hear a rumour our new name for the ABL might be "SA Crush" in reference to our vast wine regions... just a rumour though.

Nah that was in the IBLA. We didn't even get the wooden spoon year - that went to the NSW Storm and the Western Heelers took it out...circa 2001....snelling got the helms playing for Country NSW.
Apparantly Collins is on the way to play for us too and we already have Hayden Beard from the ACT who can bring the gas. Pat Kelly for PM

I agree it is great to finally see something positive coming out of South Australia but they have 7 imports from around Australia and overseas. Congratulations on winning 3-0 but looking at Qlds young roster the result was not unexpected, Fair enough having imports for next years National League but the Claxton Shield is about State against State and is the history of Australian Baseball. Have any other teams recruited imports for this year and what about South Australias junior development?
