Baseball SA strike again. It seems the By-Laws are not as clear as they seem...infact are not really rules at all.
A player who has a price tag of over 4k, says no to playing and says I will just coach. Take into account, this player has an arm injury and is nearing 30. Don't blame the guy for refusing to pay 4k.
The club stated that he could therefore only coach and to play would need to pay his transfer fee as stated in the by-laws as a required player.
This is where it gets interesting. That player was then removed from the list as the transfer form stated he was to coach only not play.(NOTHING IN THIS IN THE BYLAWS) Being removed from the list meant he could transfer for free....oh no. Baseball SA rule it is not within the spirit of the transfer and therefore he is not allowed to transfer without paying a fee of nearly 4k.
So By-Laws for transferring as a coach only? Don't exists By-Laws for being able to remove a player but hold them to a fee? Nope nothing on that one either!
It seems Baseball SA can do as they please! Where is this game going if we have lawyers deciding a transfer now!
So I ask...is the transfer system working?

It is indeed a sorry state of affairs when the ruling body can't even interpret their own playing rules and by laws. It seems to me and many more they just keep making them up as they go along. Isn't it about time these people were made accountable? This situation is such that having been removed from the required players list the player should be entitled to a free clearance, and it doesn't say anywhere that they can be put on the list retrospectively.
A case of the tail wagging the dog!!

Hmm By-Laws.. If a player has lived here for over 2 years, 38y years old, pays to play baseball, works and pays taxes to the Australian government but is treated as an import? A player plays for a club for 3 games then gets put on the required players list, now to change clubs there is a transfer fee? Yes to all those....

Sounds like someone needs to put up their hand and say 'I/we made a mistake' instead of trying to bend their own rules.
Sounds like this one may get ugly.
