Fantastic day at Melbourne on Saturday. Playing Essendon both the first and seconds had walk off wins. The Seconds got up 4 to 3 in the last with Adam Pahos delivering the winning hit to bring home the bacon. In the Firsts, after giving up 7 runs in the first three innings Melbourne came back with a couple then exploded for seven in the fifth or sixth to take the lead 9 to 7. Essendon fought back to level the score at 9 all in the top of the ninth. Melbourne with the bottom third of the line up due, Harvey Mitchellhil lead off with a walk that was followed by a single to left by Bronson Neave. With first and second occupied Mitch Bowen playing his first full game in the ones delivered a double down the left field line to bring home the winning run and also record his first hit in the ones. This capped off a grand day for the Demons that led into a joyous and well celebrated Christmas Dinner at the Club. Merry Christmas to all and have a safe New Year.
