KC and MC, 1000's come north of the divide to Nagambie because the weather is sensational, family caravan parks are friendly and the wine is wonderful and plentiful, nuff said? oh and it's not a bad rowing course either..... Preaching to the converted! I love the place. The pie shop is off the charts! I don't miss the 5am alarms though

the cuts should effect other sports. 30 M is a lot on money to cut from just one type of sporting event

Increase player costs in the wind ? what would be tolerated $10, $20 or $50 per player!!! Complete speculation Pirates. The annual meetings are being held up north, but do you honestly think they are any further on than discussing a series of broad posibilities at this stage? Come on

At the most recent P&S meeting, Windsor Knox reported on the annual ABF forum of state and ABL administrators. His message was about the positive growth of participation in baseball across the country.
I asked if the recent funding cut was discussed and if any indication was given regarding the implications of the cut... specifically, would the cuts be restricted to elite programming, or would it filter further to the funding of grass roots programming.
According to Windsor, it's likely the implications of the funding cut will be felt across the board and, while the ABF is working hard to find sponsorship to offset some of the loss, there will be some impact felt.

According to Windsor, it's likely the implications of the funding cut will be felt across the board and, while the ABF is working hard to find sponsorship to offset some of the loss, there will be some impact felt. Firstly, why is Windsor even talking about this in the public domain? He is so far down the chain of command on this that his only comment should be no comment. Windsor's only motivation are his self serving interest of the Aces in isolation. He has made that clear with his actions in the past, which is his wright in the position he is in. However, I do not put a cent of value on anything he says in regards to this issue. Secondly, the ABF would want to be very very careful on how they fund matters. The governemnt contribution they are receiving is for participation. There is a major sport that has lost 5.8% of their funding which is the exact amount that was "mis-allocated" within their budget. Lastly, my understanding is that the states have not come close to finalising a plan on what they are doing moving forward. And let's be honest, until BV appoint a new CEO, discussions will be through our board and not executed until much further down the track.

mc15, Windsor was asked a direct question regarding the funding... if he'd offered no comment, we'd be knocking him for being secretive and not respecting those at the grass roots level.
His response was measured and offered no specifics... I thought it was great that I had the opportunity to ask our Aces CEO a direct question and he gave me a professional answer... in fact, I'm sure most of us would love more opportunities to have a clear, open and direct conversation with those at the top.
I agree the ABF should be cautious in how it allocates its funding to ensure it meets the requirements set out by the ASC... but as yet, there is no indication they're not planning to do so.
And yes, much water still to go under the bridge... but the other side of that bridge is looking a little darker than it was a couple of months ago.

I don't have a problem with the question being asked or him responding to it. A more appropriate response would have been "Multipule options have been discussed on how programs will be funded going forward. To avoid speculation, it would be best not to publically air what these options may be until they have all been assessed in detail"
Boring? Yes. Respecting the process definatly. We in baseball speculate and judge hashly on 'bits' of information feeding down to us on a daily basis. Items like this that potentially involve large amounts of money and the future employment of those within Australian baseball in my view should not be commented on in public outside of the ABF CEO or the board. Personally, I believe this is more of a boad issue in communication with the state association board than it is a CEO level. Too many conflicts of interest to be left to the employees whether they base state based, nationally based or the ABL.
Dark waters ahead? Don't know and I'll reserve my judgement until I hear an official plan.
In the mean time, I would like to hear Windsor's strategic plan on how he's going to balance his own books before concerning himself with the balance sheets of others.
