I don't usually talk up games I am involved in, but I reckon there are two pretty decent games going to be played at Merri Park tomorrow.
Westgarth take on Forest Hill in both B and B Res.
Both clubs are fighting for the honor of playing in A Grade next year and will no doubt have their best talent on display.
The two teams sit in the top two positions on the B grade ladder and only one game and a few percentage points separates the B Res teams.
There's going to be a decent crowd as our thirds and fourths have a bye and have committed to having a few guys down to cheer us on.
The crusty, buttered, hot dog rolls will be stocked, as will the beer fridge, so get down to Westgarth tomorrow and catch a couple of cracking games.
Make sure you say hi.

A sunny day at Carrum Downs (!) and the berwick b3 boys got up over the cards 8-4 or somewhere there abouts. A three run shot to either side and one hamstring late in the game to the visitors.

NC Rebels a bit too good for Monash Uni in B (8-1 I think) and BRes (11-3) in what was a real nice day for it out on the diamond today. The 1's have been real solid in 'D' most of this season and today was no exception behind NickyD.

Deakin pushed league-leading Lara before the Wildcats got away for a 8-4 result in the GBA. Saints downed Bellarine 4-2 in a game that went scoreless after the third, while Rory Meddick and Scott Kerr spearheaded the Brewers in an efficient 11-1 outing over winless Bacchus Marsh. Guild had the A Grade bye. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au

The under 12 championships were also on this weekend in Bendigo. Some great baseball was played by all 7 teams, but the greatest thing around all the games was the spirit in which the games were conducted. This was not just by the players, but also the coaches and supporters for all teams. Great plays were congratulated by both sides supportes in every game. It was very refreshing to watch baseball being played just for the game, not all about winning - as it should be at that level.
As for the victors, Sunraysia took out the country championship and Ringwood took out the city title.
Hoping everyone returned home safe and enjoyed a great weekend of baseball in Bendigo!

Good game of baseball out at Greensborough with Uni getting up for a win 10-6. Lead changed a few times with GBC racing out to a 3-0 lead after the 1st. Uni pegged it back to 3-3 in the 2nd, GBC added a couple then Uni evened the score and finally in the 7th Uni put up a 4 spot that couldn't be dragged in. Both teams hit the ball well all day, Uni welcoming back some solid familiar faces in M Pollock, S moon and J Licence, Camov got the win for Uni.

Croydon /Watsonia 2 all draw. Berka and righty Formisano complete 9 innings games and probably 28k's between them.

Totally agree with Bushman. The only negative of the weekend: I just wish it would sink in with some parents, organisers and spectators that there is no place for smoking around junior sport I reckon it might have been nice as part of the presentations to mention that Diamond Valley were equal on wins/points with Ringwood and Sunraysia, and deserved some applause as well www.essendonbaseball.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/like.gif{/img] The under 12 championships were also on this weekend in Bendigo. I agree juniormum - saw some of this on the Saturday and there was some great baseball played by the little tackers. Sunraysia really took it up to the city teams and did a fantastic job - a good bunch of kids.
Was surprised I heard there were some over age kids allowed to play. Not sure which teams but apparently both country and city division had some. Would have been an interesting discussion if one of the ineligible kids hurt one of the youngens. Luckily that didn't happen from what I hear.

It looks like Latrobe may have lost some points for an unregistered player in B Grade and Waverley and Ringwood have gained points as a result I think. Not sure what happened there, maybe The Jack has more info ? It certainly has reshuffled the ladder.

Yeah, rumour is they had an unregistered player for the first two round. Results have been changed for round one and two to 9 - nil losses.
Massive impact on the ladder, it is going to be a real interesting run home for all teams now. No one wil wanna drop a game.

Confirmed Authentic, unregistered player has cost La Trobe Uni dearly, they are now tied on 2 wins with Essendon and Bundoora. Up the top of the ladder is very interesting now with Westgarth well out on top (2 games clear), the next 4 teams are 1 point apart and percentage. This week, if the higher placed team wins, there will be movement in the top five. Westgarth play Waverley, North Coburg play FH and Ringwood play St Kilda. If the higher placed teams win, North Coburg woudl go to second and Ringwood third, Waverley would slip to 4th while FH would drop out of the top four. Massive weekend for B Grade, I would not want to drop a game behind at this stage of the season.

The U/18 Carnival finished up with Geelong def Sunraysia and Ringwood def DBA. Not a bad effort by Sunraysia to win the one team Country Division and be runner up in the City Section. A good weekend was had by all. Congrats to Geelong. Mildura is still the most boringest drive in Australia.

TJ The bottom end of A Grade is looking interesting too - perhaps your words of wisdom and predictions for the rest of the season could be shared this week... IMHO North Balwyn should be higher so something ain't right (without trying to re-ignite the Phil Dale situation as I doubt this is 'the reason').

Very interesting indeed Farnt, after this week I think we will be talking about the bottom 2, although Melb Uni scored 10 runs last week to 'upset' Greens. A few good ins for them may turn this into a battle of who can pinch a win against one of the more fancied teams. More to come.

Re Nth Balwyn..agree with farnt. They lost 2-3 to Heathmont and looked good. Narrow losses to Research and several other teams lately. Next 5 rounds gives them opportunities for a few wins on paper. The one constant seems to be lack of scoring power.
