saw Keith Dicker (cleany) get cleated while playing 3rd base at dandy. All seemed ok till he pulled his sock down. Looked like a piece of flake right down to the bone.
Had a guy from Fitzroy have a heart attack in the2s at dandy He didn't die so not sure if its a legit injury?

Saw Firthy brake his cheekbone playing Hakisack before a game. & Kouch ruptured the lining of his nose inserting a 50 thinking it was a 20.

Can't believe this thread has got this far without John Ramsden coming up. Got a ball to the face going into second on a double in a Claxton game (late 70's early 80's ), think Graham Castle was the shortshop for NSW. Lot of controversy about the play at the time. John one of the best pitchers going around at the time and a nice guy to boot, never the same after. Ive heard about this one from my old man and number of the other old timers (sure they love being called that). Was it deliberate? Because that is what I have heard from most who have told the story.

Yes I remember that. He was a great pitcher great player and great bloke, he was a freak of nature. I played with him at Malvern and he was never the same again. Terrible injury,he tried to make a comeback the next season but got hit in the face again at training and retired very young. As for was it deliberate well, if you put your number 2 pitcher in to pinch run and he runs up to 2nd base waving his arms down the middle of the line, ask any self respecting shortstop what is coming. To Cassell's defence he threw side arm naturally and I'm sure he never felt good about destroying Ramsden's face.

i dont know if this belongs on 'worst injury ever seen thread' or 'funniest thing i have ever seen thread' or maybe both but here goes anyway. playin for springvale at altona the bumpster slides into 2nd base without sliding pants on, ends up with what looked to me to be third degree burns from his ar$e down to just above his knee. anyways he was standin there after game in just a pair of y fronts on and rattlin on about how proud he was of us and doin his after game speach thingy... nudrun proceeded to sneak up on him from behind and load up on his open wound with about half a can of lynx deodorant. ummm ahhh yeah, the next 5mins was like a clip from the ol benny hill shows. if the bumper had of got ahold of nudrun i dare say that he wouldn be on this forum today...

Have to go along with this. Funniest ever!. The look on the Bumpsters face was priceless. Never seen the man with such fire in his eyes. Laughed so hard, a bit of wee came out.

Do you remember doing yourself a mischief as a very young tacker Nudrun before your first grand final at Mulgrave's Friday night comp ;D indeed i do knukleball i was in under 14s and i was warming up the pitcher on the sidelines. no gear needed as he was just rolling it over. then my coach at the time , (forgot his name) lets call him numb nuts decides to stand in with a bat so the pitcher can throw with a hitter in the box. anyway he throws down a few and then this doosh of a coach decides he will take a lick at one and foul tips it straight into my face. smashes my nose and blood pouring everywhere. what a tool of a bloke. he is the reason why my beak can hold multipul 10 cent pieces in each nostral (retired) can u remember his name knucks. would love to look him up and give his number to the pelican that left a massive package on my car roof. (with a fork)

no way one of your greatest attributes (the beak of all beaks) was actually a product of some numb nuts. Don't get upset at the numb nuts, he is the reason some many in the world have had hours of humour. watch you stick all kinds of things in that beak.
also this is a little off the topic but a have seen a baseball related episode that made me cringe - it involved a 34in 30oz and Jazzy O. the bat was followed by your phone nud.

Always remembered it being Frank Pepper as your coach that year, although i doubt it was him swinging the bat as Frank always liked to coach from the sitting down position ;D

mid 90's playing thirds at moorabin. pitcher rob bell throwing well on the day until he pitches the ball half way up the third base line and screams out in pain. turns out his humerous bone breaks as he throws the ball. he was mid thirties at the time and iv'e never seen him play again.

I remeber a game (final at Dingley maybe) between Chelt & Bonbeach.. Long story short, Clarko getting waved in from a ball hit to the outfield. Hoppy taking a high throw from the fielder just leaving himself wide open. Just as he caught it, was absolutely hammered by Clarko, sending him most of the way to the fence. Actually managed to call time in mid air in the horizontal position. Didn't move for the next few minutes. Thought he was dead...
Reminds me of another time I saw Hoppy in the same position after he attempted a backflip off a couch. Kouch did it with ease. Hoppy thought he could do the same.... NOT! Pulled the chandeller off the roof on the way down. Laid there for the next 2 hours... not even getting up to have a wee! Some great pics from that night too boys!

Ross McLean pitching, Ash Cass hitting at Malvern, fouled a lazer past the 1st base dugout and over the old small fence. The ball stopped dead on Grant Karlsen's grandmothers jaw. Removed a dozen of a remaining old ladies teeth. No deflection, stopped clean. Could hear it from 3rd base dugout... can still hear it now... uuurgh, nasty stuff. Dave Milton stopped the game until the ambo's took her to hospital. No arguements from anyone. Poor lady had teeth embedded inside her cheeks, sinuses, swallowed some. Nasty to watch happen to an elderly lady. I remember a similar thing happened at Altona (cursed ground) at a Monarchs game. They used to have junior members birthdays on the wooden benches up on the first base line. So RH hitter is late on a ball lines it stright into the group of kids watching the game. One poor kid about 2 seats away from me was looking out to right field and copped it full to the side of the head, got thrown back over the bench like he had been snipered. Actually wasnt too bad, he was in pain and got checked out but was back and OK by then end of the game. Also, 2 summers ago Mulgrave 3rds pitcher at Weribee got cleats across the inside of his wrist at a play at home. I was suprised he didn't get put on the suicide watch.

I know of a guy who while making a valiant attempt at a catch, went the big dive and cracked his cup on an exposed sprinkler head, rolling around in the outfield, everyone rushed out to help him, until we discorvered his 4skin was caught in the crack in his cup!
Once saw Clarko in a Aust V Chinese Tapei game at south melb., runner coming home attempts to take him out, instead Clarko just dropped the shoulder into the guys chest, never tagged him, just stood over the guy and gave him the big your out signal while he was rolling around in agony!
