Does anyone know why Fitzroy V Newport was played Thursday night ? cheers fuzzy They were originally were fixtured to play early game on Tuesday at Altona. Unpires sent out an email saying they were not going to provide umpires as they believe the ground is not safe according to BV playing conditions. (their complaint was that the dugouts are not enclosed as per the playing conditions) BV gave permission to each of the clubs playing to decide if they were happy to go ahead with self appointed club umpires. Both Ess and Sandy chose to go ahead with Ess supplying the 2 umpires. All I can take is that Fitz and Newport chose not to. The thing that I find strange here is that there is no current rule in the playing conditions to replay a game on a different date if the the ground is not fit. Seems like to questionable screw up to me which ever way you look at it.

Thanks Goblin, I know we want to play if possible but it would appear that game was played in contravention of the rules.
