Watching the Game on Facebook it looked a really overcast day. We’ve had Masters Games delayed there in years gone by because of the setting sun making play dangerous. Would it have been an issue on Sunday if it was a sunny afternoon?

Well done to Blackburn progressing to the Summer League Division 1 GF and best of luck to both teams. Hayden Dingle was the difference in this best of 3 finals series, with a potent bat and numerous RBIs Another observation, the three umpires assigned were Greg Howard, Ian Gavin and Alex Steinberg. Greg Howard plated the 1st game, Ian Gavin plated the 2nd game and Greg Howard plated the 3rd game......I thought all 3 assigned umpires plate a game each, if the series goes to 3 games....just wondering why Alex missed out?

Geelong Baycats have moved a step closer to the Summer League Division One title with a thrilling 4-2 result over Blackburn at Altona this evening.
With Sam Gibbons tossing another pearler for Geelong and Scott Mitchenson on song for the Orioles, the Baycats held a two zip break into the bottom of nine, when Blackburn levelled scores on a sacrifice and a timely base hit to force the game to extras.
Delivering big-time for the Baycats, Cameron Brown belted a two-run opposite-field homer to hand his side a break that held up as Cameron Forbes closed out an outstanding game of baseball by both clubs.
The Division One Grand Final series will resume at Altona on Saturday. In the meantime, there is much to look forward to with Division Two baseball - when Berwick meets Preston in the first of a best-of-three set at the stadium on Wednesday evening, starting at 7.00 PM.

Although both clubs had already qualified for potential promotion to Division One in 2018/19, Berwick and Preston were hard at it in a terrific Summer League Division Two contest at Altona this evening - with the Cougars gaining a late break and going on to a 6-4 win over a valiant Pirates outfit.
Game Two is scheduled for a 1.00 PM start at the stadium on Saturday, with Game Three (if required) on Sunday.

A bit of Facebook banter saying Preston walked off and refused to shake hands after game 1. Any truth?

If you knew anything about finals baseball, you find that you shake hands at the end of the series, not after each game, especially if there is a 3 game series

Preston has forced the Summer League Division Two Grand Final to a third game with its 6-2 result over Berwick at Altona this afternoon. Leading all the way, the Pirates exploited a string of walks in the bottom of seven that placed them in a dominant position.
Game Three is scheduled for a 1.00 PM start at the stadium on Sunday.

Geelong Baycats are the 2017/18 Summer League champion after a hard-fought 6-3 win over Blackburn in Game Two of the Division One Grand Final series. This result completed a remarkable trifecta, with the club winning the senior title in firsts, seconds and thirds.
Spearheaded by a terrific eight innings on the hill by Rudy Jaramillo, the Baycats maintained the offensive pressure throughout a stirring contest that was still wide open until Geelong plated two in the eighth to make it super-tough for an Orioles club that had an outstanding season across the board.
Congratulations to Geelong on its first Division One title for twelve years - and its first as the Baycats! Very well done to both clubs for producing two excellent games to decide the Division One champion.

Congratulations to the Baycats and I think that is 7 straight Div 1 Premierships for Josh Davies. Well done Josh.

In a contest that capped a wonderful senior post-season for 2017/18, Preston Pirates downed Berwick 2-1 in Grand Final Game Three this afternoon to take the Summer League Division Two title.
Tossing a stellar complete game for the Cougars, Blake Cunningham conceded two runs in the third innings, while Hayden Godbold and Mitch Ley shared honours on the hill for Preston - which withstood a ninth innings challenge in a thriller.
Congratulations to Preston and well done to both clubs for setting the Division Two benchmark and both qualifying for promotion to Division One next season.
Congratulations to all premier teams in all grades - men's, women's, junior and Masters!
