Whilst the letter to the Women participants may have been ill timed and lacking public relations skills, it is downright unfair and offensive that the Under 15 girls should have been included. At that age they are squarely under the authority of the managers, who could have corrected any breaches, or at least informed them for future tournaments..assuming there were breaches?? and that they were not caught up in a blanket (correct color of course) letter.I would have expected a congratulatory letter to the Vic Women as Tournament winners, and a letter of appreciation to the girls for their participation and presenting a positive image of junior baseball. But I would have also expected a letter of congratulations on the initial selection. I don't see the relevance of past precedent..on one hand we are saying it is a great honor and achievement, whilst on the other nothing is noted. P.S. the cost of the envelope and stamp shouldn't be too much considering the financial outlay by participants and/or parents.

Sounds like JB is very good mates with the outgoing CEO. Larry always has a point to say and most times, its a good one and I can name 1, that's it ONE womens player that would always be top of a list when people spoke about the womens game and who deserves all the acolades she gets. How many men players can you name that have made it big...maybe 20-30 plus....The womens program is on the decline because they are either sickj of the B%llS#$T or the dont want to play it anymore. The whole sport is on the decline because of these idiots that we pay to run our sport. I can name 2 of the bat who if you surveyed 100 baseball people, they would all say both of them are a waste of time, effort, money and have no idea what the game needs...whew, that hurt

Reading all the posts in this forum, the only real option for Womens Baseball to move ahead would be to administer themselves. It appears that the only Competition that actually gives a dam about the Womens game is the DBA which actually encourages the Clubs to get a Womens side happening. I beleive that the DBA has seven sides playing this year which is one up on last year I think. Maybe now is the time for the Women to form their own committee and run the competition with monetary contribution from BV to help provide an amdinistrater to deal with the day to day running of the Womens League. Just thinking out aloud. And jb, I definately don't have any issues with Brett H.

Excluding Larry (who has more than paid his dues) and the Women players,, I hope that the contributors laying the blame for ALL problems with Womens' baseball on BV are trying to develop Womens teams in their clubs, and will support the Womens teams if the mooted elite comp next year needs their grounds/time slots. Does anyone seriously believe that a competition can be run independently of BV sanctions? Or is OMR et al happy to let the Women's comp be the sacrificial lamb to oblivion, to score some points against BV.? It would be more constructive for clubs to push for more designated staff and funding at B.V. including increased publicity, .and where is the strategy to grow Women's baseball? Like it or not only BV has the resources to grow Womens baseball, so it has to be made to work through club support to promote the game within BV. One final point...If there were NO BV officials at the Nationals the cry would have been that they didn't care about Womens baseball.
