For the 2nd week running Footscray have had to forfeit their Womens Division 3 game. I decided to post this to deter more negative thoughts about Womens baseball and it's issue with clubs forfeiting
We currently have 5 players away involved in the Masters in Alice Springs, and combined with 4 injured, 4 more with work committments, and 2 moving house, we just couldn't drag enough bodies onto the diamond.
We sincerely appologise to Sandringham and Geelong for not being able to provide opposition, and believe me this goes against everything I & my club have worked to achieve over the last 4 years.
What it does however is give some of our new players a chance to step up in the higher grade and perform. We had 6 players debut in our 1sts last week and although we couldn't get over Waverley (who only had 8 players), it gave a couple of them the chance to see where they need to be skills wise to compete.
I have no doubt once we get back to normality next week, and hopefully gain a couple of our injured hitters back, we will be more than competive in both grades.

I forgot to mention this last week, just wanted to congratulate our B side on winning two games in a row. Everyone in the side bar 3 guys are playing their first games of baseball and they beat a previously undefeated side quite convincingly. Well done boys and good luck- your gonna need it against Preston tomorrow!!

The Geelong hitters found it tough going early on against Andy Mann before being gifted a couple of unearned runs in the sixth and breezing away for a 7-2 win over Melbourne in Saturday's only Division One game. www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/

The doggies boys appeared to have a ball in Alice Springs, though faded at the end to finish fourth. Slammers beat Alice Springs in main final 14 2. Leigh Mc Intyre threw complete game for the win. Not bad for a 64 year old in an over 35 comp. Few other vics in the team. Darwin won other division with a few familiar faces from provincial campaigns.

We got pantsed in the 3's at fitzroy today. Two blanks make it hard, but thumbs up to the Roy boys hitters, who had a day out. And I heard the ones stole victory from the jaws of defeat, after nearly stealing defeat from the jaws of victory. Got up 9-0 at one stage, then going into the notion of the ninth, was down by 2, but a three run dig gets the grubs over the line! Well done boys!

For crying out loud Kingsley, you need to get your snoops out of Geelong and Essendon and over to the eastern and southern suburbs. Love you work but please get your stories right. It was Mitch Kennedy today, not Jon Kennedy. Mitch throws right handed, Jon throws right.😉

Our boys got 6 late in a game that went nearly 7 digs after a tight 2-2 tussle after 5 Willo - good game played pretty well for Div 4 in breezy somewhat arctic conditions. Your boys do OK. Claire (who does like having scorer company) will send you guys a copy of the scorebook FYI mate.

MitchKennedy throws right handed, Jon Kennedy throws left handed. That's how it should have been posted. 😍

Thanks for the update, titta.
The Waverley Facebook page lists Jon Kennedy as starting today. Sorry I was not there to check.
Since Cheltenham and Waverley appear reluctant to provide me with post-game reports and it is difficult to have "snoops" (your term) everywhere, mistakes like this will at times be made.
You don't like it. I certainly don't like it.

There was no phone call to me yesterday regarding the game so you can't say that Waverley have been reluctant to give you reports. As I said before, we all love the work you do in reporting these games. I'm just setting the record straight. Titta.

I always appreciate comment on games from managers and club officials. When time permits and where I am not creating inconvenience I will make the calls.
However, as valued as your input always is, the fact that I have needed to call the last three weeks is precisely the point.
Without your help I would have had no game detail to go on in trying to get something half-sensible written.
It is a two-way process if we want to get things right. That is to a very large degree why this Forum exists.

I am amazed that the onus is on Kingsley to call the Clubs to obtain game reports. I guess that is why his salary is so high! Every Club in Divisions 1 and 2 should have a designated "reporter" who has the job of Texting, Phoning or Emailing a concise report to KC as soon as practicable after the game has concluded. He does an amazing job keeping us informed and ALL CLUBS should be doing everything within their power to help him promote the Game.

If you cant catch him by phone, dictate your report on your smartphone and email him the attachment...a one minute summary can be 200 words easy (as long as you dont mind typing up and editing KC).

Thank you for the congrats lads, the win was well overdue. Couldnt wipe the smiles off the boys faces and the froffies went down a treat. Having said that we know it is a tough comp and if we are to add to it we are going to have to be on our game all game every week. We look forward to heading out to Werribee this week to take on the Earl at the home of effluent!
