At the first final in the DBA B grade today between Pakenham and Boneo, the Pakenham baseball club held their weekly raffle, this week it was to help raise funds for Brooke. I have known the family for a few years now and we thought that this was definitely a worthy cause. The club raised $130 and the Pakenham committee matched that for a total of $260. I would like to thank everyone from Boneo and Pakenham for digging deep to help out a wonderful baseball family and especially Renee Hunter the president of the club for matching the funds raised. Great effort by all. Can someone please PM me the details of where we can send the money or contact Renee directly.

Shaun....if you go to the Baseball Victoria website and click on the Brookestar link it has all the payment options listed. Well done to all who donated today and great to see the Pakenham committee matching the donation. Makes you feel great to be part of the baseball community.

Hi Everyone, First time forum post here, but I wanted to express my thanks for the support shown by everyone for our daughter Brooke. The response to the appeal from the baseball community has been extraordinary, and we feel so honoured to be members of such a generous and wonderful sport whose members care for Brooke as much as we do.
She is a great kid who is battling a really rotten disorder. She never complains –she goes through hell with it, and she just accepts and moves on doing the best she can on the day. There are some days she is so heavily medicated she struggles to do even the simplest of things.
We are extremely grateful to Deebs for all his help. He believes that this can be done and his commitment to help Brooke along with all of you has given us tremendous comfort and strength. We will see this through, but we know that we are not alone; we have some truly wonderful people with us helping Brooke on this journey.

Thanks Authentic. Yes, just checked and it is the National Bank. You can go into any NAB branch, quote the BSB 083-054 and the a/c nbr 142492784 and make your donation.

deebs, Preston hosting the Aces practice games on the 28th September and we have a huge night planed with the Vice Chancellor of the La Trobe Uni coming down to throw the first pitch for us and lots of fund raising including some great prizes for the raffles, poster of Black Caviar Poster to be personally signed by the jockey Luke Nolan, mobile phones and other great items. We are expecting a big crowd and will be promoting fairly heavily throughout the local community. We might be able to see if our visitors are happy to donate a gold coin parking fee towards Brookes target. Might try and find a generous company sponsor to pay $50 for every strikeout the pitchers get!!!! All the K’s could be added up across all the practice matches.
Maybe if the other hosts of the Aces Practice matches could do the same theme it would see a fair bit of money donated I’m sure. lots of things happening in the back ground. keep driving it Jon.

This is a great cause and the baseball community has rallied around unbelievably. And it's great to see in Deebs earlier post about Mr Adamson and his company, Startrack getting involved. Lots and lots and lots of names on the donation register.....but none that make any mention of the Australian Baseball Federation becoming involved. Maybe they have made donations offline??....I'm sure there are some well healed employees/board members who would be well placed to support Brooke's cause.

Nice story on SBS tonight that will hopefully keep the momentum going.
yes, heartbeat, some people may choose to make a contribution offline or anonymously. Their call. I wouldn't make any assumptions about who may or may not contribute to this cause, although you would hope that baseball organisations look after their own.
Some great initiatives, including the eBay sales, companies getting involved, clubs and leagues organising their own fund-raisers. As deebs mentioned, it is important to keep getting the word out there and encouraging people to come on board to whatever extent they they are able - large or small.

Wonderfully generous support from within and outside the baseball community. The appeal has struck a chord with many, including this group committed to helping kids and families with special needs: www.jaidensjourneyfoundation.com/

Springvale Lions Baseball Club is holding the Fourth Annual Women's Pre-Season Tournament on Saturday 2nd September. Girls/women from any club, plus new players, are encouraged to enter themselves into this tournament, with girls mixed up into different teams on the day.
A great chance to meet and play alongside girls from other clubs, and also get some game time in before the season begins. The tournament is usually offered free of charge, however, this year we are going to charge $5 per entrant, with all funds raised going directly to Brooke's cause.
Hoping this encourages even more people to get involved and support a female baseballer at a time when she really needs it.
For more info, please contact Simone - wearnebuilders@yahoo.com.au

KRISTY ALLEN (MURDON)
daughter of Phil and Jane allen, you are a star, Kristy organized a run with her club the macedon running club, they raise around $1000 for Brooke, fantastic effort, Kristy i would have come and did the run with you if i wasnt away, i think the heart and mind would have been fine but the knees wouldnt have.
great to see the girls baseball getting behind Brooke and to all who have donated and shown their support.
also a mentio to Russell Allen a good friend of mine and a former Dingley baseballer, Russell conntacted Greg Morris asked him what he wanted for the David Nilsson framed top, greg said $4500 , Russell said he will take it, t=he turned around and said in fact, why dont you bering it down to me let me have a look at it, i will give you the $4500 and you can take it back home with you.
Russell wont be happy i told this story but bad luck, another great gesture, hopefully by after the winter grandfinals we will be there
thanks again to everyone, the $1 donations have ment as much as the larger ones, so great job so far to everyone involved

Fantastic stuff !!!!! - keep it going all as this has been an inspired effort by so many that shows what our 'baseball community' can do that goes way beyond the game and to life (and quality of life) itself.
