Ditto to that Authentic, I think they need to sort out their methods of communication and their mail list.

I received this email this morning - good news for the Aces.
Would gladly post a link to the Press Release on the Aces website regards this, but there's no mention of it on their site.

They're probably waiting for someone to write the story for them, SC.
Still good to hear some positive news though.

For those that did not receive a copy of the latest newsletter. The Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces re-sign Manager Phil DaleThe Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces professional baseball team is pleased to announce that Phil Dale has again been signed as Manager for the 2011-2012 season, General Manager Windsor Knox announced today. “We are thrilled to have Phil back onboard for the upcoming season,” said Knox. “He’s considered a legend of Australian baseball and last year coached our team to achieve many successes in our inaugural season. We led the league in a several categories with 249 runs, 380 hits, 76 doubles and 54 homers, and a number of our players are currently accomplishing great things in the US, Japan and Korea.” Dale’s enduring baseball career can be traced back to his high school years and he was the first Australian to win a baseball scholarship in the United States. He started out as a pitcher with Georgia Southern University, before being signed by Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds where he was the first Victorian to play professional baseball in the US. It was during this time that Dale cultured the invaluable art of persistence, a lesson that has stood him in good stead over the years. “I remember our team manager, Pete Rose, saying that a coach or manager might delay your progress to where you’re going by not playing you at times, but it will never stop you from getting there in the end,” Dale recalled. “That was certainly true for me, and it’s a piece of advice I’ve valued ever since.” After his playing career, Dale was the first Australian to coach professionally in the US, working as a minor league coach for both Cincinnati and the Atlanta Braves. He returned home in 1989 to compete in every season of the previous ABL, and in 1998, pitched for Australia in the Baseball World Cup. His term as a manager began following his retirement in 1999. In addition to Managing the Aces in the Australian Baseball League, Dale has served as the pitching coach for the Australian national team, a role which has seen him lead the squad into three Baseball World Cups, two World Baseball Classics, and three Olympic campaigns, the most successful of which was in 2004, when Australia famously knocked off baseball powerhouse Japan to win the silver medal. He is also a scout for the Atlanta Braves, and was instrumental in signing Melbourne Aces outfielder Andrew Russell as a pitcher for the Braves’ Class A Advanced Affiliate, the Lynchburg Hillcats this year. According to Dale, the best part of his job is waking up each morning and knowing that he has the opportunity to do something he loves and give others a chance to do the same. "I’m honoured to be heading up the highly-skilled coaching staff of the Aces again this summer," he said. “We are in the process of putting together a team made up of outstanding local and international talent and we look forward to providing our fans with a highly competitive and even more spectacular baseball season.” For more information about the Melbourne Aces visit www.melbourneaces.com.auTo arrange an interview with General Manager Windsor Knox or Phil Dale, contact Catherine Beaumont on 9583 3600 or 0419 847 224.

Hey guys, What some of you received yesterday was the press release and not a newsletter. We are in the process of migrating our mailing list to another site and some of you were on the press list so you got it earllier than expected.
The web, Facebook and twitter were not supposed to be updated until today. We have now merged all of our databases for the newsletters for the next edition which will be in two weeks.
The old website is still active until we finish moving all the information over to a new server.

He mentions playing left (Rutgers territory) for the Aces from the quick read I had. Maybe he will play in right to replace Russell(presuming Atlanta doesn't let him hit)?

this creates an interesting scenario, so do the Aces pay for Ben's fare over or do the Baycats and the Aces go along for the ride? so it also does seem that the Aces are out and about in getting their roster together

Australian Baseball Digest ran the story a few days ago but it has since been withdrawn from their site as "untrue" (on the advice of the ABL's Ben Foster).
The story does make a number of confusing assertions, which was what prompted me to suggest on their Facebook page that ABD check its sources for credibility (in this case of the journo who wrote the report) before copying and pasting.
I believe that Ben Knuth was approached by the Aces last season but was not available to play. He could quite clearly be an asset if he was signed to the Aces for 2011/12.
But with rosters not likely to be finalised until during September, we will not know for sure any time soon whether he has been, may be or will be joining the Aces.

Not a 100% sure what to take from the Knuth article.
Whilst it mentions he is supposed to be playing this season, it also mentions that he played for them last year ??
To me it seems the article is maybe confusing his outings for the Baycats for games for the Aces.
Memory says someone mentioned that the Baycats were bringing him back again this year.
I think I will wait to hear it from Holmesy to clear it up one way or another, or maybe Windsor can shed some light on it.

Ben Knuth will be playing with the Baycats at the Grand Forks Tournament and I believe will be returning for another summer season with the club.

Just don't invite him out for a feed of Mexican. Yes I found that comment very insulting There is a beautiful Mexican restaurant in Geelong called Mexican graffiti. Can't believe his coach hasn't taken him there yet.

Talk about Arthur not knowing anything about Martha Ben Foster now only needs to inform his own own boss as the article is also featured on the ABL website. www.baseball.com.au/

Whilst it mentions he is supposed to be playing this season, it also mentions that he played for them last year ? I've read a lot of articles on Josh Spence that refer to him as "Melbourne Aces own" and as far as I can remember Josh never played for the Aces. So you can take a lot of what you read with a grain of salt...

Are we staying with the Japanese content or looking more towards America for players who can be around for all 40 games?

Well said Stuart. I thought that the use of Japanese players last season was terrific until they, without warning, up and went home half way through the season. It ripped the heart out of our team and fans and was the main reason that we struggled in the last half of the season in my opinion. Please Windsor no repeats of that for this season. I'd rather go without their input than warm to the players only to have them snatched away half way through the season.
